Special Film Screening & Fundraiser at Ziptrek’s A-Frame!

On February 25th, Ziptrek was able to share an exclusive screening of The Radicals movie with the filmmaker himself, Brian Hockenstein, and Latoya and Florence Jack of the Xwisten First Nation in attendance. Beyond a typical movie viewing experience, this evening treated 30 excited guests to an event loaded with some extras!

Creature Feature: Wild Cats of Canada

All three of these wild cats are larger than your average house cat, and stay active through all seasons of the year. The Bobcat and Canada Lynx are the only two native bob-tailed cats in North America, while the Cougar is Canada's only long-tailed native cat. It is possible, but quite rare, to see any one of these three wild cats in the Whistler area.

If you take one of our Peak 2 Peak Combo Tours during the summer months then you may spot a hoary marmot - the vocal ground squirrel that our town owes its name to. Up until the summer of 1965, Whistler Mountain was known as London Mountain because of the heavy fog that some of us locals are all too familiar with. When London's fog turned into a dangerous and deadly smog it became a negative association so the town was ready for a change.
